Budgeting
You can move around the grid with the keyboard, tell an editable cell from a calculated one, and control how much of the tree is showing.
The grid distinguishes the two by appearance: **white cells accept input, calculated cells do not.**
Calculated cells are Total and Total {Currency} everywhere, plus — on an account that has subaccounts — its own Quantity, Unit, Price/Unit, X and currency, because those now belong to the subaccounts — see [how an account total is calculated](/kb/article/how-an-account-total-is-calculated).
If a cell you expect to type into will not take input, that is the reason: something below it owns the value.
**↑ ↓** move the selection from row to row.
**Tab** moves to the next field to the right, **Shift-Tab** back to the left. Tabbing across a row is the fastest way to fill in a new account.
A row can be *selected* — the whole row is active, which is what the details panel reads — or a single cell can be *in edit*. Selecting a row does not open a cell for editing.
The Quantity, Price/Unit and X cells open a small editor with an autocomplete list rather than a plain text box, because what goes in them is a [formula](/kb/article/write-a-formula). It opens over the cell rather than inside it, so the list is not clipped.
Rows with children carry a fold arrow. **Expand All** and **Collapse All** in the toolbar do the whole category at once.
An account can be expandable without having subaccounts — applied fringes, supplements and extra costs render as rows beneath it — see [show fringes where they collect or arise](/kb/article/show-fringes-where-they-collect-or-arise).
The pinned row at the bottom is the category total. It is not part of the list — the arrow keys skip it and it cannot be selected.
