Cash Flow
You can tell apart the two reasons KOSMA warns about when money is missing from a cash flow plan, and you know which fix each one needs.
KOSMA warns when an amount from the budget or financing plan is missing from a cash flow plan. With no cash flow rule on its account or source, it is missing entirely; with no company, only from single-company views. Each needs a different fix. The **Linked Sources** panel shows which one applies. Check it before you rely on a plan, above all one someone else built.
When you open a plan with a gap, KOSMA shows a short message for each reason. It closes by itself after 5 seconds, or you close it earlier with ×. For a missing rule, KOSMA shows:
Some accounts and sources have no cash flow rule, so their amounts are missing from this cash flow.
For a missing company, KOSMA shows:
Some accounts and sources have no company, so their amounts appear only under Combined Producers.
KOSMA shows the message again only when the gap changes, for example after an edit or when you switch to another plan.
The **Linked Sources** panel has one line for the budget (or the cost control set) and one line for the financing plan. On each line, KOSMA shows a warning mark  for accounts or sources without a cash flow rule and a company mark  for accounts or sources without a company. The mark disappears once the last account or source is fixed.
When an account or a source has no cash flow rule, a red bubble opens as soon as you open the plan, under the warning mark  on one of the two lines. You cannot close it. As long as an account in the budget has no rule, the bubble is on the budget line:
There are accounts (=expenses) in your budget which do not have a cash flow rule. The cash flow display of the expenses is incomplete.
Once every account has a rule and a source still has none, the bubble moves to the financing plan line:
There are sources (=incomes) in your financing plan which do not have a cash flow rule. The cash flow display of the income is incomplete.
Below the text, the bubble shows the link **Click here to complete**.
A plan of type **Snapshot** stays as it was when you created it. A rule you set afterwards in the budget, cost control set or financing plan does not change it. If a rule is missing in a Snapshot, KOSMA therefore opens no red bubble, but the gap remains. To see how many accounts or sources have no rule, point at the warning mark  on the budget line or the financing plan line.
The bubble appears on one line only. Sources can lack a rule even while it sits on the budget line. To check, point at the warning mark  on the financing plan line. KOSMA shows how many sources have no rule and how much is missing:

When you point at the company mark  on the budget line, KOSMA shows:

KOSMA places an amount in a period only through its cash flow rule; see [how an amount becomes a period](/kb/article/how-an-amount-becomes-a-period). An account or source without a rule is in no period, and not in **Before** or **After** either. Anything with its own date needs no rule, so credits and transfers you enter in Cash Flow are never missing. The warnings count only totals above 0. A negative amount without a rule, such as a discount, is missing from the plan with no warning. The same goes for 0 or an empty amount.
You set the rule in the module the plan takes its figures from. Click **Click here to complete** in the bubble. KOSMA opens **Budgeting** for expenses from a budget, **Cost Control** for expenses from a cost control set and **Financing** for income, each on the linked budget, set or financing plan. Company warnings appear only when the project has more than one company. With a single company, the **Producer** dropdown is greyed out. An account has no company when no company has a share above 0 in it. An account split 40/60 between two companies therefore has a company. A source has no company when none is assigned to it. Accounts and sources with a total of 0 never count.
**Combined Producers** shows every account and source in full, including those without a company. A single company's view shows only that company's share of each account and source, and leaves out the ones it has no share in. An account or source without a company is therefore missing from every single company's view.
To fix it, give the account or source a company. If you do not need the split by company, choose **Combined Producers** in **Producer** instead. See [view one company, or all of them](/kb/article/view-one-company-or-all-of-them).
A plan converts credits and transfers with the exchange rates of its currency list: the budget's list or, for a plan on a cost control set, the set's list. If a credit or transfer uses a currency that is not on that list, it is left out of the plan entirely. KOSMA does not count it at a rate of 1. This can affect a line entered before the set had its own currency list. When you open such a plan, KOSMA shows a short message, and the same text stays below **Credits** and **Transfers**:

The catalog in this message is the currency list. Open **Credits** or **Transfers**. The affected line shows its amount without a currency code. Choose a currency from the list in its **Amount** cell.
The warnings do not cover every difference between the plan and the budget:
- In a single company's view, the rule warnings count only that company's share of the missing amounts. - The company warnings count money that **Combined Producers** already shows. It is missing only from the single company's view. - Part of an account or source can be missing without a warning. For example, a rule pays 50% on **First Shooting Day** and 50% on a fixed date. If the project has no **First Shooting Day**, only the 50% on the fixed date appears. If the rule gives no payment a date at all, the missing-rule warning does count the account or source. The refundable input VAT of a taxed account without a rule is also missing without a warning. - An amount dated outside the plan's window is not missing. KOSMA adds it to **Before** or **After**; see [read the Before and After columns](/kb/article/read-the-balance-rows).
