First Steps
You know which modules your licence lets you edit, where KOSMA shows your licence, what changes when your licence comes from a team and what happens when you sign in on a second device.
Your licence decides which modules of a project you can edit. With every licence, you can open and read all four modules.
In the Project Manager, **License** in the left sidebar shows the name of your licence. Next to it, **Renewal** shows the date your licence renews. If your licence comes from a team, this is the date the team's subscription renews.

You can print or export from a module only if your licence lets you edit that module.
Licence names are in English in every interface language.
On Free, you cannot edit anything, not even a project you created yourself, and you cannot share. You can read everything others share with you: if someone with a paid licence adds you to a project as a guest and shares a dataset with you, you can open and read it.
KOSMA disables the controls that change something. When you point at a disabled button, KOSMA shows why:

In the Demo Project, you can edit all four modules with every licence, Free included.
The exception covers only the Demo Project itself. To create a copy of it or a new dataset from it, such as a new budget, you need a licence that covers that module.
During a trial, **License** shows **Trial** and the number of days left. Instead of **Renewal**, KOSMA shows **Expires** with the day your trial ends. This is not a billing date. When the trial ends, your licence becomes **Free**.
You can be signed in on one device at a time. When you sign in on a second device, KOSMA ends your sign-in on every other device without asking. Offline access on those devices ends too. On the first device, you can keep working and syncing for up to five minutes. Then KOSMA saves your work there locally and signs you out. On each device, your budgets stay as they were last saved on that device.
Click  **Account Admin** to open your account page on the KOSMA website. Click **Upgrade License** to open the pricing page. KOSMA opens both pages in your default browser. For the steps, see [upgrade your licence](/kb/article/upgrade-your-licence).
On **Production**, **Upgrade License** is greyed out. Its tooltip says:
You are on Production, our top plan
Once you have redeemed a seat in a team, your licence is the tier of that seat: **Budget**, **Cost Control** or **Production**. **License** shows that tier as long as your seat is active, even if you also pay for a licence of your own.
Only your team admin can change your seat. The admin does this on the **Team** tab of their customer area on kosma.io. If you are the team admin yourself, you change your own seat there like every other seat. For the steps, see [manage your team](/kb/article/manage-your-team).
If you have no subscription or trial of your own, the **Subscription** tab of your customer area on kosma.io shows the card **Team seat**:
You are using KOSMA with a {tier} seat provided by {name}. Billing and seat management are handled by your team admin.
