Financing
You can use the linked budget's variables in a source's amount, and you know what happens when a variable is hidden, renamed or deleted in the budget.
In a source's **Amount**, you can use the same variables as in a formula of the linked budget. A financing plan has no variables of its own: every variable comes from the linked budget. To enter a formula in **Amount**, you need a licence that lets you edit Financing, see [what your licence includes](/kb/article/what-your-licence-includes).
When a source's **Amount** cell is empty, or after an operator such as `*`, KOSMA shows a list of names. Under **Variables**, the list has one branch for each kind of variable. Each variable shows its current value in brackets.

The subtotals of the financing plan itself are not variables. If you hide a variable or a group in the budget's **Variables** dialog, the list no longer offers it. If you type its name anyway, KOSMA marks the formula as **Invalid**.
A fund pays 12,000 per shooting day. The budget has a work phase named Shooting with 25 work days. Enter this formula in the source's **Amount**:
KOSMA calculates 300,000. When the number of work days changes in the budget, KOSMA recalculates the amount.
You create variables in the linked budget, in its **Variables** dialog in **Budgeting**. If you rename a variable in the budget, KOSMA changes the name in every formula that uses it. The same applies to a work phase: if you rename it, KOSMA changes its variables in every formula.
If you delete a variable that a formula uses, KOSMA asks first:
Delete Variable. Are you sure you want to delete variable {name}? Deleting it will leave the formulas below pointing at a missing element. You can delete anyway and fix them later.
If you delete it anyway, the **Amount** of every source that used the variable stays empty. For how to correct the formula, see [write a source amount formula](/kb/article/write-a-source-amount-formula).
