First Steps
You can buy a higher KOSMA licence on the KOSMA website and see it in KOSMA without restarting.
You buy a higher licence on the KOSMA website. You need an internet connection for this.
If your licence comes from a team seat, only your team admin can change it. A licence you buy yourself changes nothing while the seat is active.
In the left sidebar of the Project Manager, click **Upgrade License**. KOSMA opens the pricing page on kosma.io in your default browser.
On the pricing page, choose a licence and complete the purchase.
Switch to the KOSMA window. **License** shows the new licence, without a restart.
Point at **Upgrade License** to see why you cannot click it. If you are offline, KOSMA shows:
Unavailable while offline
If KOSMA runs in local-only mode, KOSMA shows:
Unavailable until you log in again

If your licence is already Production, the highest licence, KOSMA shows:
You are on Production, our top plan
**If KOSMA still shows the old licence.** KOSMA checks your licence when you switch to its window, at most once every 30 seconds. Wait 30 seconds, switch to another window, and then switch back to KOSMA.
**If you buy licences for a team.** For several people, you buy team licences instead of an upgrade. For the steps, see [set up a team licence](/kb/article/set-up-a-team). If you already run a team, you change the plan of a seat on the **Team** tab of your customer area. **Upgrade License** in KOSMA does not change a seat. For the steps, see [manage your team](/kb/article/manage-your-team).
If the team admin removed you or did not renew your seat, KOSMA deletes your account 7 days after the seat ended, even if you buy a licence yourself.
If the team admin cancelled the team, your account stays, and you can upgrade with the steps above. For what happens to your account in each case, see [redeem a team invitation](/kb/article/redeem-a-team-invitation).
If you try to edit or print in a module that your licence does not cover, KOSMA shows **Upgrade Required**.
Click **Upgrade**. KOSMA opens the same pricing page as in step 1. Continue with step 2.
