Budgeting
You can set up the companies of a coproduction and split any budget line between them by percentage or by amount.
Each coproduction partner carries an agreed share of the budget. You set up the partners once as companies, and then you give each budget line the share of each company. You need a licence that covers Budgeting and a budget you can edit.
Click an account in the budget. In the **Account Details** panel, click  and choose **Companies** in the **Settings** menu. KOSMA opens the **Companies** dialog.
Click  **Company** once for each partner. KOSMA adds a row named **New Producer 1**, then **New Producer 2** and so on, and puts the cursor in the name. Type the name of the partner. The list has no groups. Each name can appear only once, whatever its capitalisation. If two names are the same, KOSMA shows this message and keeps **Ok** greyed out:
Name must be unique
KOSMA applies the changes you make in the dialog only when you click **Ok**. You can click **Ok** once you have changed something. **Cancel** discards all your changes.
Click the account you want to split. In the **Account Details** panel, point at the header of the **Companies** panel and click  **Add company**. KOSMA adds a row with the first company that is not yet on the account and opens its dropdown. Choose the partner. KOSMA enters the share still missing to 100%, so the first company on an account starts at 100%. Type the partner's share into the field next to the dropdown.
If the panel is still empty, you can also click its header. If a partner is missing from the dropdown, click **Edit** at the bottom of the dropdown. KOSMA opens the **Companies** dialog. When every company is already on the account,  **Add company** opens that dialog too. You split subaccounts and markups the same way.
A share starts as a percentage. To type an amount instead, click  next to the field. KOSMA shows , and you type the amount. When you leave the field, KOSMA converts the amount into a percentage of the account total and saves that percentage. To type a percentage again, click .
KOSMA does not keep a fixed amount. If the account total changes later, the partner's amount changes with it.
Repeat step 3 for each further partner. Together, the shares on an account cannot exceed 100%. If you type more than the share still open, KOSMA reduces the value to the highest possible share and shows this message:
Sum of all companies cannot exceed 100%.
An account can have at most 6 companies. If you try to add a seventh, KOSMA shows this message:
Maximum of 6 companies per account reached.
To remove a company from the account, choose **--none--** in its dropdown.
An account with subaccounts has no companies of its own. When you select it, the **Companies** panel shows the companies of all its subaccounts, and every change applies to every subaccount. If the subaccounts have different companies, the panel shows this message:

To give all subaccounts the same companies, point at the header of the panel, click  **Reset companies** and assign the companies again.
If you select several accounts, the panel works the same way for all of them. When you reset more than one account, KOSMA asks first, for example for three accounts:
Reset 3 Accounts?
Click **Reset** to remove the companies from all selected accounts.
You do both in the **Companies** dialog (step 1). The **In Use** column shows how often a company is used: each share on an account, subaccount, markup or cost item counts, and so does each formula that names the company.
To hide a company, click  **Hide company** in its row. KOSMA then leaves the company out of the **Companies** widget on the **Topsheet Info** screen, as long as its total there is 0. The company stays in the dropdown of the **Companies** panel, in the column list of the grid and in the print dialog, and every account keeps its share. To show the company again, click  **Show company**.
To delete a company, click  **Delete company**. If the company is not in use, KOSMA asks first:
Are you sure you want to remove company "Northlight"?
If the company is in use, KOSMA shows where: in accounts, markups and formulas with `SUM_COMPANY` or `COUNT_COMPANY`. You can delete it anyway. KOSMA applies the change when you click **Ok** in the **Companies** dialog.
Assigning a company changes no total in the budget. The grid looks the same until you switch on the company columns: under  **Show or hide columns**, every company is listed in the **Companies** section, hidden companies included. Each company column carries the name of the company, and groups, categories and totals add up the rows below them. The markups grid has the same column. In the print dialog, you can add a column for each company. On the **Topsheet Info** screen, the **Companies** widget shows one row per company, a **No Company** row for the amounts that belong to no company, and a **Total**. **If the Companies panel is greyed out.** If the account is the **Collect In Budget Account** of wage fringes or wage supplements, KOSMA greys out the panel. The account takes its split from the wage accounts whose fringes or supplements it collects. Assign the companies to those wage accounts. KOSMA also greys out the panel and the **Companies** dialog when you cannot edit the budget, for example on a Free licence or when someone shared the budget with you for reading only.
