Budgeting
You can define the companies on a production and split any account between them by percentage or by amount.
On a coproduction each partner carries an agreed share of the budget. Companies are how KOSMA records who carries what.
In the account details, click the settings icon and choose **Companies**. Click **+ Company** and name each partner.
The list is flat — no groups — and the **Visibility** toggle hides a company from the pickers without removing it from the accounts already assigned to it.
Select the account and open the **Companies** panel in the account details. Choose a company from the dropdown and enter its share.
The share is a percentage by default. **Click the percent sign to switch the field to an absolute amount** instead.
Use the percentage for a straightforward split and the amount when a partner's contribution to a line is a fixed sum rather than a proportion — a flat contribution to a shared facility, for instance.
An account can be split between several companies. Add a row per partner.
Nothing in the grid changes when you assign a company — the split is read through the company columns, the print dialog, or the dashboard — see [show company and effect columns](/kb/article/show-company-and-effect-columns).
Company totals are also available to formulas, which is how a partner's handling fee is calculated from their own spend rather than from the whole budget — see [aggregate by company, tag or effect](/kb/article/aggregate-by-company-tag-or-effect).
