Budgeting
You can read company and effect totals three ways, and pick the one that suits the question.
Assigning a company or an effect changes no total, so the assignment is invisible until you ask to see it. There are three ways, and they answer different questions.
Switch on a company or effect column and it appears to the right of the totals, showing each row's contribution and summing up the tree like any other total.
This is the working view: you are still building the budget and want to see a tally move as you assign. Column choice persists per budget — see [choose and arrange grid columns](/kb/article/choose-and-arrange-grid-columns).
The print dialog can include company and effect columns. This is the view for anyone outside the room — a partner who needs their share, a funder who needs the qualifying spend.
The dashboard summarises the same figures without the account detail underneath.
This is the overview: how far is the regional spend from its target, what is each partner carrying, in one screen rather than one column.
| The question | The answer is in | | ---------------------------------------------- | ---------------- | | Is this assignment landing where I expect? | the grid column | | What does a partner or funder need to be sent? | the print | | Are we on target overall? | the dashboard |
The numbers are identical in all three; only the surrounding detail changes.
