Budgeting
You know where KOSMA shows the totals per company and per effect, and how to show them as columns in the budget grid.
When you assign a company or an effect to an account, the account total does not change. KOSMA shows the share of each company and each effect in three places: in columns of the budget grid, in columns of a printout and in **Topsheet Info**. The shares are the same in each. To assign them, see [split costs between companies](/kb/article/split-costs-between-companies) and [define and assign effects](/kb/article/define-and-assign-effects).

You can show the columns in any budget, including one you can only read. In the grid, click  **Show or hide columns**. KOSMA opens a menu. The **Companies** section lists every company of the budget, and the **Effects** section lists every effect, each with a checkbox. Companies and effects you hid in Settings are listed too. A section without entries does not appear.
Tick a company or an effect. KOSMA adds a column with its name to the right of the existing total columns. Each row shows the share of that company or effect, and each level above it shows the sum of the rows below it, as in the other total columns. The columns stay visible after you click **Overview/Markups**. To reorder the sections in the menu, see [choose and arrange grid columns](/kb/article/choose-and-arrange-grid-columns).
The next time you open Budgeting, all company and effect columns are off again.
A collect-in account receives wage fringes and wage supplements from wage accounts. The company columns split them like the wage account they come from. In the effect columns, only the wage supplements follow that rule. For example, a wage account assigned entirely to one effect sends it €1,000 of wage fringes. If the effect's **Include Fringes %** in Settings is 50, its column in the collect-in account shows €500. Open the print dialog as described in [print a budget](/kb/article/print-a-budget). Under **Add Columns**, drag a company from **Companies** or an effect from **Effects** into **Selected Columns**. **Companies** and **Effects** appear only when the budget has companies or effects.
In Budgeting, click  **Topsheet Info**. The **Companies** table shows one row per company, a **No Company** row for money that is not assigned to a company, and a **Total** row. The **Effects** table shows **Required** and **Budget** for each effect. Once a financing plan exists, it also shows **Variance**. KOSMA does not add company and effect assignments from Cost Control or Financing to these totals.
