Set up milestonesBudgetingYou can create the dated points a production is paid against, with their payment terms.1. Create oneOn the timeline, **double-click** in the **Milestones** lane. The New Milestone dialog opens.2. Fill it in- **Name** — what the point is. *First Shooting Day*, *Picture Lock*, *Delivery*. - **Date** — when it falls. **Set Date** puts it on the calendar. - **Position** — where it sits relative to an anchor, for milestones defined by their offset from another rather than by a fixed date. - **Days** — the **payment delay**: how long after the milestone the money actually moves. Terms of "30 days after delivery" are a milestone with a delay of 30, not a milestone dated 30 days late. - **Select color**.3. Keep the delay on the milestoneThe delay belongs here rather than on each cash flow rule, so that a change in payment terms is one edit. Every rule referencing the milestone picks it up.4. Moving oneDrag it, or edit its date. Every cash flow rule referencing it moves with it — which is the reason to use milestones rather than fixed dates in the first place.5. Why a delete can be refusedDeleting a milestone that cash flow rules depend on warns you first, and says **how many** rules use it.Take the number seriously: those rules are the payment schedule, and a deleted milestone leaves them without an anchor.
