Budgeting
You can save a selection of fringes or supplements as a preset and apply it to other accounts in one step, in the dialog or from the account details.
A preset saves a selection of fringes or supplements, so you can apply it to other accounts without ticking everything again. Use it for cases that repeat from account to account, such as salaried crew or day players. You need a budget you can edit.
Apply the fringes and supplements the case needs to one account, with the **Factor** of each supplement, as described in [apply fringes and supplements](/kb/article/apply-fringes-and-supplements).
In the **Fringes & Supplements: {account}** dialog, open **Select preset...** and choose **Save as Preset**. KOSMA creates the preset and opens **Presets**. Type over the name **New Preset** and click **Ok**. **Cancel** discards the new preset.
KOSMA keeps the preset only if you also click **Ok** in the **Fringes & Supplements: {account}** dialog. If you click **Cancel** there, KOSMA discards the preset too.
The preset stores the fringes or supplements you ticked, and the names of the subaccounts ticked in the dialog. A supplement preset also stores the **Factor** of each supplement.
Fringes, supplements and extra costs each keep their own list of presets. Each dropdown saves only the selection of its own tab. For a case such as salaried crew, save one preset on the fringes tab and one on the supplements tab. Extra-cost presets work the same way; see [apply extra costs](/kb/article/apply-extra-costs).
Each tab holds up to ten presets. At ten, **Save as Preset** is greyed out, and KOSMA shows this message under it:
Limit of 10 reached — delete a preset to free a slot.
Open the dialog on another account, open **Select preset...** and choose the preset. It replaces the whole selection on its tab, fringes or supplements. KOSMA removes the entries the preset does not contain, adds the missing ones and ticks only the preset's subaccounts. For supplements, KOSMA also sets each **Factor** to the saved value.
To clear the tab, choose **-- No Preset --**. KOSMA removes all its entries and subaccount ticks, even if the selection matches no preset.
KOSMA matches subaccounts by their names and ignores upper and lower case. If the preset names a subaccount that this account does not have, KOSMA skips it and shows **Information**:
The subaccounts in the presets do not match the subaccounts in the active account and were ignored
KOSMA copies the preset onto the account. Later changes to the preset do not change those accounts, and changes to an account do not change the preset. If you change a fringe or supplement rate in Settings, every account that uses it gets the new rate, preset or not.
In the account details, under **Fringes & Supplements**, click  **Apply Preset**. KOSMA lists the presets, with a checkbox for each. When the budget has presets of both kinds, KOSMA sorts them under **Fringe Presets** and **Supplement Presets**. Tick a preset to apply it. Depending on its kind, it replaces the account's fringes or its supplements, as in step 3. Untick it to remove all entries of that kind.
KOSMA does not ask first: ticking or unticking a preset changes the selection at once.
When the entries of an account match a preset exactly, the account details no longer list them one by one. They show one row instead, with the symbol , the preset's name and the sum of its entries.
Once a preset exists, open **Select preset...** on its tab of the **Fringes & Supplements: {account}** dialog and choose **Edit Presets**. KOSMA opens **Presets**. Drag a row up or down to change the order. Change a name in the **Name** column. Names must be unique and can be up to 50 characters long. If you enter a name that another preset already has, KOSMA keeps the old name and shows:
Name must be unique
To delete a preset, click  **Delete preset** in its row. KOSMA asks for confirmation and names the preset:
Delete preset "Salaried crew"?
Click **Delete**. When you are done in **Presets**, click **Ok**.
**If the account details offer no presets.** A preset fits an account when the account has every subaccount the preset names. A preset without subaccounts fits every account. The dialog lists all presets (step 3). KOSMA shows  **Apply Preset** only when at least one preset fits and you can edit the budget. You cannot edit it on a Free licence, in a budget shared with you without editing access, in a budget linked to a cost control set, or when you are signed out. In these cases, the dialog **Fringes & Supplements: {account}**, **Save as Preset** and **Edit Presets** are not available either. A matching preset still shows as one row, but you cannot change it.
