Budgeting
You can save a fringe or supplement selection as a preset and apply it to other accounts in one step, from the dialog or straight from the account details panel.
Most productions have a handful of recurring cases — salaried crew, day players, freelancers — and each one is the same selection applied over and over. A preset captures that selection once.
Apply the fringes and supplements the case needs, including the multipliers, as in [apply fringes and supplements](/kb/article/apply-fringes-and-supplements).
From the preset dropdown at the top of the dialog, choose **Save as Preset**. The Presets window opens with a new entry called **New Preset** already in edit, so you can type the name straight away and press **Ok** — that stores the fringes you ticked *and* the subaccounts you ticked with them. **Cancel** discards the new entry instead, and the dropdown is left as it was.
**Presets are per type.** Fringes, supplements and extra costs each keep their own separate list, so a tab's dropdown saves only that tab's selection. Setting up a salaried-crew case end to end is therefore one preset on each side — name them so the pair is recognisable.
On another account, pick the preset from that side's dropdown. **-- No Preset --** clears the selection.
**You do not need this dialog to apply one.** The account details panel carries its own **Fringe Presets** and **Supplement Presets** sections, so a routine account is one pick in the panel. That is the point of presets: the accounts that follow a standard never need the full dialog.
Two behaviours are worth knowing before you rely on it:
- Picking a preset **replaces** what was applied on that side rather than adding to it, and clearing the matched preset clears that side's assignments with it. - When what is applied matches a preset exactly, the panel stops listing the individual entries and shows **one row** — the preset's name, and the sum of its members.
The same is true of extra costs, which use this mechanism as their own third type — see [apply extra costs](/kb/article/apply-extra-costs).
**Edit Presets** opens the list for renaming and deleting. It appears only once at least one preset of that type exists, and names must be unique.
**Ten per type is the ceiling.** At ten, **Save as Preset** stays in the dropdown but is greyed out and reads *"Limit of 10 reached — delete a preset to free a slot"*, so the way forward is on screen rather than implied by a missing entry. Names are capped at 50 characters, enforced as you type.
A preset is a starting point, not a link. Changing a preset does not change the accounts you already applied it to, and adjusting an account afterwards does not change the preset. Where a **rate** changes, edit the definition in Settings instead — that does reach every account using it.
