Budgeting
You can save a finished cash flow rule under a name and apply it to other lines in one step, from the dialog or from the account details panel.
A budget repeats a handful of payment patterns. Crew runs weekly through the shoot, deliverables fall due on delivery, a licence pays as a deposit and a balance. Rebuilding the same pattern on every account is slow and easy to get wrong. A preset saves one finished rule under a name. You then apply it to the next line instead of filling the dialog in again.
Open **Set Cash Flow Rule** on an account. Enter the rule you want to repeat, as described in [set a cash flow rule on an account](/kb/article/set-a-cashflow-rule-on-an-account). A preset stores the whole rule: the **Based on** choice, and whichever side that choice selects.
Open the **Select Preset...** dropdown at the right of the header row and choose **Save as Preset**. KOSMA opens the **Presets** window with a new entry named **New Preset**. Type a name and click **Ok**.
Click **Cancel** to discard the new entry. The dropdown then stays as it was.
This dropdown and the preset field inside the **Payment cycle** frame set different things. The field inside the frame sets only the interval of the cycle, and its placeholder reads **Select cycle...**.
Open **Set Cash Flow Rule** on the next line, open the **Select Preset...** dropdown and pick the preset. KOSMA rewrites the rule to match, and moves the **Based on** choice with it.
One list serves every line of the open budget. A preset you saved on an account applies to a subaccount or a markup as well. A financing plan and a cost control set each keep their own list.
Choose **-- No Preset --** to clear the preset name from the rule. The entries stay as they are. To empty the rule, click **Reset**.
A preset carries a fixed amount as an amount. On a line with a different total those amounts no longer reach 100 percent, and the dialog reports the value error until you correct them. A preset built from percentages fits any total.
You do not need the dialog to apply a preset. Move the pointer over the header of the **Cashflow** panel in the account details. Two icons appear, and the left one is **Apply Preset**. Click it, and the panel lists every saved preset with a checkbox. Tick one to apply it, untick it to clear the name.
The **Apply Preset** icon appears only once at least one preset exists. Until you save the first one, the panel header carries the pen alone.
While a rule carries a preset name, the panel stops listing the rule line by line. It shows one row with the preset's name instead.
Choose **Edit Presets** in the dropdown to rename, reorder or delete a preset. This option appears once at least one preset exists. Preset names must be unique.
Deleting a preset clears its name from every rule that used it. Those rules keep their entries.
A preset name can be at most 50 characters. KOSMA stops you from typing more. The list holds at most ten presets. At ten, **Save as Preset** stays in the dropdown but is greyed out. Its hint tells you to delete a preset to free a slot.
Changing a rule after you applied a preset to it clears the preset name from that rule. The change itself stays. Changing a preset later does not reach the rules you already applied it to.
To carry one pattern to many lines again after you edit it, apply the preset again to each line.
