Budgeting
You can turn a budget into a reusable template so the next production of the same kind starts from your structure.
If your company shoots the same kind of production repeatedly, the structure you worked out once is worth keeping.
A template carries **structure**, not a production's numbers. Before saving, it is worth removing what was specific to this shoot and keeping what recurs: the categories, the groups, the accounts you always have.
Choose **Save as Template** and give it a **Template name**. That is the whole step — there is no category to pick, because the categories in the New Budget dialog are the online catalogue's own and your template is not one of theirs.
Your templates appear under **Custom Budgets** when [creating a budget](/kb/article/create-a-budget-from-a-template) — always there, never anywhere else. The dialog's grid is where you add an Info note and a Language to it, and rename or delete it; the save step itself only asks for the name.
**What makes a template worth having.** The value is in the account structure and the [numbering](/kb/article/number-accounts-and-groups), because those are what make two productions comparable afterwards. A template whose accounts match your accounting codes lets cost control import actuals without mapping. A template full of last production's quantities is worse than no template, because the numbers look authoritative and are not.
