First Steps
You can redeem a team invitation and see the seat's licence tier in the Project Manager.
A team invitation gives your KOSMA account a seat in the team's subscription, and with it the seat's licence tier. It gives you no access to projects: each project's owner adds you as a guest.
You need the invitation code and a web browser. The link in the invitation email opens the redeem page from step 3 straight in your browser. You then need the KOSMA app only at step 5.
Before you sign in, click **Enter invitation code** on the sign-in screen. After you sign in, choose **Redeem Team Invitation…** in the **Project** menu.
Type or paste your code into the **Invitation code** field.
Click **Redeem**. KOSMA opens the redeem page on kosma.io in your default browser. If you are already signed in there with the address the invitation was sent to, the page activates your seat at once. Continue at step 5. Otherwise the page shows the team, the tier of your seat and that address.
Click **I already have an account**, or **Create account** if you have no KOSMA account yet. Sign in or register with that address. KOSMA does not accept any other. The redeem page then activates your seat without another click and shows:
Your seat is active. Your licence is ready. Open KOSMA and sign in to start working.
Click **Open KOSMA**, or switch to the KOSMA window yourself. If KOSMA is not installed yet, click **Download it here** instead. Sign in if you need to, as described in [log in to KOSMA](/kb/article/log-in-to-kosma). In the Project Manager, **License** then shows the tier of your seat, and **Renewal** shows the next renewal date of the team's seats.
**If the page shows Wrong account.** You are signed in on kosma.io with an address other than the invited one. Click **Sign out and switch account** and sign in with the invited address. The page then activates your seat.
**If the page shows This seat is already active.** You redeemed this invitation before and opened its link again. Click **Open KOSMA** and sign in.
The text below the title names the reason:
- The page cannot find the code: open the link in your invitation email again, or paste the code from the email into **Invitation code** again. - The seat was removed or has ended: ask your team admin. If you had already redeemed the seat, the section "When your seat ends" below explains what this means for your account. - Your address already has a seat in another team: an address belongs to one team only. This applies even when your old seat has ended and KOSMA has not yet deleted your account, which takes 7 days. Ask the admin who sent you the invitation.
**If you closed the browser too early.** Nothing changes on your account until you sign in on the redeem page with the invited address. Start again at step 1, or click the link in your invitation email.
**If the Project Manager still shows the old tier.** KOSMA checks your licence again when you switch to its window, but at most once every 30 seconds. Wait 30 seconds, switch to another window and then back to KOSMA.
If the team admin does not renew your seat or removes you from it, KOSMA deletes your account 7 days later. Before then, hand the projects you own over to a guest and export your data.
- If the whole team's subscription ends, all its seats end. Your licence becomes **Free**, and your KOSMA account stays. - If the team admin does not renew your seat, your licence becomes **Free** on the renewal date. Seven days later, KOSMA deletes your account. - If the team admin removes you from your seat, your licence becomes **Free** at once, and you get an email. KOSMA sends you an email reminder 5 days after the removal and deletes your account 7 days after the removal.
