Cash Flow
You can project the cash flow from what you now expect to spend rather than from the budget.
The expenses picker takes a **budget** or a **cost control set**. Both are supported, and they answer different questions.

Income comes from the financing plan either way. Only the expense side moves.
Once a production is running, the budget is a historical document: it says what you thought in pre-production. The cost control set says what you think now, and it knows what has actually been paid.
A cash flow built on the set therefore answers *given where we actually are, when do we run out* — which is the question from the first day of the shoot onwards.
The budget view is not superseded. It stays the right basis for the financing conversation, because it is the plan everyone agreed to, and for any comparison against what was approved.
Which one a production works from day to day varies with how it is run, and KOSMA does not take a view. Keeping **two plans** — one on each — is a reasonable arrangement, and cheap, since a plan holds no data of its own — see [manage and copy cash flow plans](/kb/article/manage-and-copy-cash-flow-plans).
A plan reading a cost control set can report **outdated cash flow rules** — a rule pointing into the past with no payment date supplied. This warning does not exist against a budget, because a budget is entirely forecast and a forecast about the past is just an old plan.
