You can set your own numbers and rewrite them all to match the current order.
Every country, group and source carries a **No.**, and it is what a financier quotes back at you — *what is 1.05?*
Double-click the **No.** cell and type. The tooltip says so on both countries and groups: *Double-click to edit numbering*.
Numbers are yours to choose, and they have no effect on any total. Their only job is to be a stable reference.
**Renumber Financing Items** lives in the **Edit menu**, not in the toolbar — which is where most people look for it first.
It rewrites the numbers of **every country, group and source** to match their current order, and it tells you so before it runs: *This rewrites the number of every country, group, and source in this financing plan to match their current order. Continue?*
That is the whole function. Renumbering is a clean sweep, not a fill-in-the-gaps — any hand-set number that does not match the row's position is replaced.
Which makes the decision straightforward:
- **Renumber** after restructuring, when the numbers have drifted out of order and the plan is confusing. - **Do not renumber** if your numbers are deliberate — deal numbers, a funder's own reference, a scheme everyone has been quoting for weeks.
If numbers are already circulating outside KOSMA, renumbering silently invalidates every one of them.
Dragging a row moves it and leaves its number alone, which is why plans drift out of sequence in the first place. Reorder freely while you are building; renumber once at the end, if at all — see [copy and reorder financing rows](/kb/article/copy-and-reorder-financing-rows).
