You can give a source its own number, renumber the whole plan and tell when KOSMA overwrites a number you typed.
Every country, group and source in a financing plan has a number in the **No.** column. KOSMA sets these numbers from the order of the rows, and you can give a source a number of your own.
A country has the number of its position in the plan: 1, 2 and so on. A group gets its country's number plus its position within the country, such as 1.1. A source gets its group's number plus its position within the group, such as 1.1.1. Installments and subtotals have no number. Two sources in the same plan cannot have the same number.
When you delete a row, or drag a row out of its country or group, the rows that came after it keep their numbers. If you delete 1.1.2, for example, the next source stays 1.1.3. The gap stays when you add rows later. Only **Renumber Financing Items** closes it.
In the demo project, the plan starts with numbers that do not follow this pattern, such as 1A for a group and 1.01 for a source. Adding a country, group or source leaves them as they are. Renumbering rewrites them: 1A becomes 1.1, and 1.01 becomes 1.1.1.
You can type a number only for a source. To enter a funder's reference, double-click the source's **No.** cell, or select it and press Enter, then type the number.
Numbers you type stay when you add a row later. The new row gets the number of its position. The rows below it move down one position, and KOSMA raises their numbers to match, except numbers you typed. If you already typed the new row's number for another source, the new row takes the next free number. A pasted row works the same way.
When you drag a row to another place, it keeps its number. The numbers then no longer follow the order of the rows until you renumber. For moving rows, see [copy and reorder financing rows](/kb/article/copy-and-reorder-financing-rows).
Renumbering also overwrites the numbers you typed yourself, for example a funder's reference. Press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) to undo it.
To renumber the whole plan, choose **Renumber Financing Items** in the **Edit** menu. The command is available only when at least one number does not match its position. Otherwise it is greyed out. KOSMA first asks in **Renumber Financing Plan**:
This rewrites the number of every country, group, and source in this financing plan to match their current order. Continue?
If you confirm, KOSMA numbers every country, group and source by the pattern above.
