Budgeting
You can add and tidy the units a budget offers, and you know why one refuses to be deleted.
Units are what the Quantity column counts — days, weeks, flat, kilometres. They come from a list the budget shares.
From an account's **Unit** cell, choose **Edit**; or open **Units** from the settings.
The **In Use** column is what makes this list manageable: the zeros are the units this budget never used, and they are the ones worth hiding.
Click **+ Unit** and name it. Names must be unique.
The **Visibility** toggle takes a unit out of the picker without deleting it or disturbing the accounts already using it. A short list is faster to work with than a complete one.
A unit that is in use lists what uses it and warns you before it goes, and lets you [delete anyway](/kb/article/why-some-things-cant-be-deleted); one that cannot be removed says so rather than failing silently. The pattern is the same across every settings list — see [how settings work](/kb/article/how-settings-work).
**Keep the list short.** Units exist so quantities can be compared and read. Three near-synonyms — *day*, *days*, *Day* — make a budget harder to read and give no benefit. Agree them once and put them in your template.
