Budgeting
You know the three fields that produce a total, the difference between the two total columns, and why an account row sometimes shows blank cells.
**Total = Quantity × Price/Unit × Factor**
The **X** column is the factor. It is 1 unless you change it — use it for a share, a multiple, or a contingency. All three fields take formulas as well as numbers.
**Total** is in the currency the row is priced in.
**Total {Currency}** is the same amount converted, so rows priced in different currencies can be added up. You choose that currency in the toolbar; it changes the view, never the row.
Groups, categories, and accounts that have subaccounts carry no quantity or price of their own. They show the sum of what is beneath them.
An account with subaccounts borrows their Unit, Price/Unit, Currency and Factor — but only while every subaccount agrees. The moment one differs, all five input cells go blank.
One subaccount of 3 days and another of 5 kilometres have no combined quantity, so KOSMA shows none rather than a number that would mislead. Edit the subaccounts; those cells are never editable on the account.
The Total adds up either way.
Deactivated accounts are left out of every total above them.
