First Steps
You can make someone else the owner of a project, and you know what it leaves you with.
A project has one **owner**, and only the owner can invite people or change who is in it. When the production changes hands — you finish, someone else carries it on — the ownership moves with it.
In **Project Settings**, on the member you want to hand it to, choose **Transfer**. You are asked to confirm, by email address, because it cannot be undone from your side afterwards.
**Ownership Transferred** — You are now guest member of the project.
You do **not** lose the project. You are demoted from owner to **guest member** of it, which means you keep the access a guest has and lose the things only an owner can do — inviting people, changing membership, and transferring ownership again.
That last point is the one to think about before you confirm: **only the new owner can hand it back.** If you transfer it by mistake, you cannot reverse it yourself.
**What a guest keeps.** What you can still see and do is exactly what any guest can — see [what a guest can see](/kb/article/how-sharing-works) and [who can do what in a project](/kb/article/who-can-do-what-in-a-project).
**Before you transfer.** Anything of yours that has not reached the server is still only on your machine, and handing the project over does not push it. Save first, and check the **Server** column reads *Up to date* — see [how your work is saved and synced](/kb/article/how-your-work-is-saved-and-synced).
