You can make one of your project's guests the new owner of the project.
You can make one of your project's guests the new owner of the project. You must be the owner and be online. The person must already be a guest of the project: see [add a guest to a project](/kb/article/add-a-guest-to-a-project).
When you transfer the ownership, KOSMA changes only the owner. KOSMA does not upload changes that exist only on your computer. See [how your work is saved and synced](/kb/article/how-your-work-is-saved-and-synced).
In the **Project Manager**, click  **Open Settings** at the end of the project's row. KOSMA opens **Project Settings**. See [open project settings](/kb/article/open-project-settings).
Under **Guest Members**, in the row of the person who is to become the owner, click the transfer button . KOSMA opens **Transfer Project Ownership**. The dialog names the email address of the person.
Only the new owner can make you the owner again.
Click **Ok**. KOSMA makes the person the owner of the project and makes you a guest. If the new owner had a date under **Access Ends**, KOSMA removes it. KOSMA closes **Project Settings** and opens **Ownership Transferred** with this message:
You are now guest member of the project {project name}.
Click **Ok**.
As a guest, you can no longer do the following in this project:
- open **Project Settings** - rename, archive or delete the project - add or remove guests, or change their **Access Ends** - transfer the ownership to someone else
You can still open the project and every budget and plan in it. You keep editing access to the budgets and plans you created and to the ones already shared with you for editing, as far as your licence allows. All other budgets and plans you can only view. If the project has no budgets or plans yet, it disappears from your **Project Manager** until someone shares a budget with you.
KOSMA shows this message:
Could not transfer project ownership to “{email}”. Only the current owner can transfer, and the new owner must be a project member whose access has not expired.
This happens, for example, when the internet connection breaks before you click **Ok**, or when the **Access Ends** date of the new owner has passed.
