Cash Flow
You can find the accounts whose amounts are missing from the cash flow plan and give each one a cash flow rule.
An account, a subaccount or a markup without a cash flow rule is missing from every period of the cash flow plan. The plan takes you to these rows, and you give each one a rule in Budgeting. This takes the **Budget** licence or higher. You don't need a licence that lets you edit cash flow.
While any of these rows has no rule, the budget under **Linked Sources** shows a warning sign  and a red bubble. The bubble opens by itself and says:
There are accounts (=expenses) in your budget which do not have a cash flow rule. The cash flow display of the expenses is incomplete.
The bubble appears for rows with no rule and for rows whose rule produces no payment at all, for example a rule whose only entry has no date. If a rule schedules only part of the amount, the row is partly missing from the plan but does not trigger the bubble.

In the red bubble, click **Click here to complete**. KOSMA opens Budgeting on the budget the plan reads, with two filters applied: **Cash flow rule** **is** **empty**, and **Budget** above 0. The grid lists every row with a total above 0 and no valid rule of its own, markups included. It leaves out rows with a total of 0 and accounts where every subaccount has its own rule. Nothing is missing from the plan for these.
The grid shows these rows only for the category selected under **Categories** on the left, and **Categories** lists only the categories that contain such rows. Click each category in turn. The **Grand Total** below the list adds up the totals of the listed accounts of every category.
The list also shows rows whose rule is incomplete, for example with percentages that do not add up to 100 %, or with a milestone while the timeline has no first shooting day. Such a row is missing from the plan in full or in part. Correct its rule as in step 2.
Select a listed row, then click  **Edit cashflow rule** on the **Cashflow** panel. KOSMA opens **Set Cash Flow Rule**. A rule on an account also applies to each of its subaccounts that has no rule of its own.
If the list is long, start with the rows that have the largest totals. These leave the most money out of the plan.
For costs tied to the shoot, base the rule on a milestone. Milestone dates are calculated from the timeline's first shooting day, so if the shoot moves, the payment moves with it. A rule on a calendar date stays where it is.
Go back to the cash flow plan. Once every row has a rule, the red bubble no longer opens on the budget line. With **Combined Producers** selected under **Producer**, the plan's expenses now include the total of every row you gave a rule. Here you need the **Cost Control** licence or a higher one. **Click here to complete** opens Cost Control on that set, with the filter **Missing cash flow rule**, **is** applied. It lists the unpaid cost items with an amount above 0 and no cash flow rule, and their accounts. Paid cost items are not listed. Give each listed cost item a rule in its **Cashflow** panel as in step 2.
For example, an account has a forecast of 10,000 and its cost items add up to 6,000. KOSMA distributes the remaining 4,000 according to the rule in the **Cashflow** panel of the account or its subaccounts. An account whose forecast is higher than the sum of its cost items therefore needs a rule of its own as well.
You cannot change the rule of a paid cost item. When you hover over  **Edit cashflow rule** on that cost item, KOSMA shows:
This cost item is paid and carries a payment date — its cashflow rule can no longer be changed
In the **Account Details** column, a row without the dot in the colour of the **Cashflow** panel has no valid rule. Give it a rule in its **Cashflow** panel as in step 2. A row with the dot can still trigger the bubble without being listed. Its rule is then valid but produces no payment, for example a payment cycle whose **Cycle start** or **Cycle end** has neither a milestone nor a date. Open the row's rule in the **Cashflow** panel and choose a milestone or a date there, see [set a cash flow rule on an account](/kb/article/set-a-cashflow-rule-on-an-account). The tooltip of the column header explains the dots:
Account details — each coloured dot marks a detail this account contains, colour-matched to its detail panel. A half-filled dot means the subaccounts have mixed content; a ring means subaccounts inherit their content from the parent account.
**If the budget line shows no bubble, or the link does nothing.** If every row has a rule and some of them place only part of the amount, the budget line shows no bubble. The link does nothing when KOSMA cannot find the budget the plan reads. In both cases, set the filter yourself if you can open that budget in Budgeting: click  **Filter**, choose **Cash flow rule**, **is** and **empty**, and click **Apply**. The grid then lists the rows without a rule as after step 1, plus rows with a total of 0.
