Filter and search a cost control setCost ControlYou can narrow a set to the accounts you care about using the same filter panel as budgeting.A set of any size is read in slices — one department, one company, one effect. Cost control uses the same filter panel as budgeting, so the controls are the ones you already know.SearchThe **Search** box narrows the grid to matching rows. Use it to reach an account by number or name without scrolling.FilterFilter by category, company, effect or tag. The categories the filter offers are the budget's, which is why the rail's category totals and the filter agree.Two combinations worth having as habits:- **By company**, in a co-production. Each partner's costs, read against the same locked budget. - **By effect**, when a subsidy needs its eligible spend reported. The filtered totals are the figure the scheme wants.The totals follow the filterThe rail recalculates for what is shown. That is the point of filtering rather than sorting — you get a subtotal for the slice, not just a shorter list.It is also the thing to remember before quoting a number: a rail read under a filter is the filtered figure, not the set's. Clear the filter before reading a grand total.Filtering does not change anythingIt is a view. Nothing is hidden from a calculation, nothing is excluded from an export, and nothing is altered. Clearing it restores the whole set.For cost items, use the listThe filter works on accounts.
