Budgeting
You can create a reusable group of wage fringes with their rates, daily limits and collect-in accounts.
Wage fringes are defined once for the budget and then applied to individual accounts. This article covers defining them; see [apply fringes and supplements](/kb/article/apply-fringes-and-supplements) for putting them to work.
In the account details, click the settings icon and choose **Fringes & Supplements**. The dialog opens on the **Fringes** tab.
The title reads *Fringes & Supplements* with no account name after it — that is how you know you are editing the shared definitions rather than one account's assignment.
Hover the **Groups** header on the left and click **+**, then give the group a name.
Groups are how you keep several sets of rates side by side — one per country or per year — and how you apply several fringes at once later. The eye icon next to a group shows or hides it in the apply window without deleting anything.
With the group selected, click **+ Fringe** and fill in the row:
- **Fringe Name** — must be unique. - **Percentage** — the rate. - **Collect In Budget Account** — the account this fringe's money is collected in. If you have not created that account yet, leave the dialog, create it, and come back.
The calculation base is the account total by default. You can widen it by adding other fringes to the base, for the cases where one contribution is legally assessed on top of another.
**Limit Per Day** caps the fringe. Enter the amount together with its currency.
The limit an authority publishes may refer to the **maximum taxed daily wage** rather than to the fringe amount. In that case convert it by hand before entering it: **limit = rate × maximum daily wage** Entering the published figure unconverted silently caps the fringe at the wrong number.
How many days the limit is evaluated over is set per account, not here — see [apply fringes and supplements](/kb/article/apply-fringes-and-supplements).
- The eye on a row hides that fringe from the apply window while leaving it applied where it already is. - The trash deletes it — on a plain confirm, without checking whether anything uses it, and every assignment goes with it. Check the **In Use** column first — it is the one delete that [gives you no warning](/kb/article/why-some-things-cant-be-deleted).
**Next.** [Define wage supplements](/kb/article/define-wage-supplements) — the other tab, and a different shape of calculation.
