You can take an account out of the totals without deleting it, and use that to answer "what if we drop this".
**Deactivate** takes an account out of every total above it while leaving it in the budget. The row stays visible and dimmed; the group, category and grand totals behave as though it were not there.
Select the account — or several — and click **Deactivate**. Deactivating a **group** does the same to everything inside it.
The account keeps showing its own value. What changes is every total above it. That is the whole point: you can see what the line costs and what the budget comes to without it, at the same time.
The same button reactivates when the selection includes a deactivated row.
**Answering "what if we drop this".** Deactivate the second unit and read the grand total. No copy, no deletion, nothing to undo afterwards.
**Parking something undecided.** A line that may or may not happen can sit in the budget, deactivated, with its research intact, rather than living in someone's notes.
