Budgeting
You can turn the budget form of the Swiss Federal Office of Culture into a new budget with KOSMIQ, and you know what the new budget contains.
KOSMIQ turns the Excel budget form of the Swiss Federal Office of Culture (BAK, in French OFC) into a budget. You need a licence other than **Free**, even in the demo project, and you must be signed in; see [what your licence includes](/kb/article/what-your-licence-includes). AI answers can stay off.
In Budgeting, click **KOSMIQ**. In KOSMIQ, click **Attach a file** and choose the form's .xlsx file (at most 2 MB; see [get help from inside KOSMA](/kb/article/get-help-from-inside-kosma)). KOSMIQ recognises the form at once and asks:
This looks like the BAK Budget Herstellung FIC & DOC 2026 — 438 account rows. Create a budget from it?
Typing *Create a budget* without a file makes KOSMIQ ask you for the form.
Click **Do it**. KOSMA creates a new budget and opens it; the budget you had open stays unchanged. **Cancel** creates nothing. KOSMIQ confirms:
Done — 'BAK Budget Herstellung FIC & DOC 2026' created with 426 accounts in 9 categories, and opened.
The budget takes the form's language: **BAK Budget Herstellung FIC & DOC 2026** from the German form, **BAK Budget Réalisation FIC & DOC 2026** from the French one. You get 426 accounts in 9 categories, with the form's numbers. The offer counted 438 rows: KOSMA replaces the overtime rows of 14 departments with accounts 40000 and 40001 at the top of category IV.
Accounts without a known unit become lump sums, and KOSMIQ tells you how many:
The form states no unit for 12 account(s), so those were created as a lump sum — check any you budget by the week or the day.
Set the right unit before you enter quantities, so that 6 means six weeks and not six lump sums.
**What the new budget contains.** The budget is in CHF. All quantities, prices and totals start at 0. The SSFV weekly wages stay empty: they are in a second workbook that KOSMA does not read. Each wage account except directing (22000) has the subaccounts **Vorbereitung**, **Dreh** and **Abwicklung** (French: **Préparation**, **Tournage**, **Bouclage**); the quantity of **Dreh** follows the variable **DW**, the shooting weeks. Rates for social charges, supplements and markups come from KOSMA, not the form: check that they are current. The form is also saved as a template under **Custom Budgets** in **New Budget** ([create a budget from a template](/kb/article/create-a-budget-from-a-template)). A second import creates a second budget of the same name.
KOSMA reads one form: the BAK form for fiction and documentary films 2026 of 6 March 2026, titled *Budget mit FiSS* in German and *Budget avec PICS* in French. Regional funds such as ZFS or Cinéforom are columns in it and become [effects](/kb/article/what-effects-are). Other funders' forms are not recognised. For a spreadsheet with fixed columns, see [import a budget from a spreadsheet](/kb/article/import-a-budget-from-a-spreadsheet).
If KOSMIQ offers no budget or answers **Do it** with an error, download a clean copy of the form from the funding body, keep the sheet name *budget OFC*, and attach the .xlsx file. A renamed sheet or many deleted rows mean no offer. If the import fails, KOSMA saves nothing. If an account number appears twice, KOSMIQ names the rows:
The budget form could not be imported. Row 212: account number 31010 repeats row 87. You can download a clean copy of the official form from the funding body.
