Financing
You can copy a plan within its budget, and you know what a copy carries that a copy-paste of rows does not.
Copying is how you keep a financing round you may want to return to. Make the copy *before* you start reworking, not after.
From the plan dropdown, or the copy action in the Financing Plans Manager.
The name field starts as *Financing Plan Name (copy)*. Replace it with something that says why this version exists — *Financing before ZDF withdrawal* beats *Financing (copy) (copy)*.
A comment is optional and worth it.
*Link budget and settings values to:* defaults to the plan's own budget, which is what you want for an ordinary copy.
Pointing it somewhere else is a **relink**, and it behaves differently enough to have its own article — see [relink a plan to another budget](/kb/article/relink-a-plan-to-another-budget).
The copy opens as a plan in its own right.
**A whole-plan copy keeps everything.** Within the same budget, a copy is complete. Numbers, amounts and formulas, currencies, statuses, companies, effects, taxes, cash-flow rules, tags, notes and attachments all come across, and the installments with them.
This is the trap worth naming, because copying a few rows *looks* like the cheaper version of the same thing. It is not.
| Carried by a row copy-paste | Left behind | | --------------------------- | ---------------------------------------- | | names | **numbers** — pasted rows are renumbered | | amounts and their formulas | **company** | | currency | **effect** | | status | **tax** | | notes, tags, attachments | **cash-flow rule** |
So a source pasted into another plan arrives as money with no financier, no tax treatment and no schedule — and because a missing cash-flow rule means nothing counts as received, the paste also quietly empties the Received figures for those rows.
If you want a plan's work in another plan, **copy the plan**. Use row copy-paste for structure you are going to re-detail anyway — see [copy and reorder financing rows](/kb/article/copy-and-reorder-financing-rows).
Copying loads the copy: close the dialog and the plan dropdown already names it, so you carry on in the new plan rather than the one you copied from.
**Copying from the Financing Manager is the deliberate exception.** There the copy is made and the manager stays open on the current plan, because navigating away would close the manager under you mid-task.
