Financing
You can copy the open financing plan, choose what the copy links to, and tell what a copy leaves out.
Copy a plan before you rework it, so the version you started from stays as it is. To copy a plan, you need a **Production** licence or a running trial. With a **Budget** or **Cost Control** licence, KOSMA greys out the copy buttons outside the demo project; with **Free**, they are always greyed out. Open the plan you want to copy. Click  **Copy Financing Plan** next to the plan dropdown, or choose **Project** > **Copy Financing Plan** (⌘⇧N on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+N on Windows). KOSMA opens **Copy Financing Plan** for the open plan. The plan dropdown has no entry for copying. In **Financing Plans**, click  **Copy plan** in a plan's row to open the same dialog for that plan. There, you can copy only the plans of the budget that is open.
Replace the suggested name with one that says what this version is for, for example *Financing before ZDF withdrawal*. KOSMA suggests the name the plan got when it was created, with (copy) added, in English in every interface language. If you renamed the plan later, KOSMA still suggests its first name. In the demo project, KOSMA suggests Total Financing (copy). If that name is already taken, KOSMA counts up to the next free number: (copy 2), (copy 3) and so on. While the name field is empty, **Create Copy** is greyed out. The comment field is optional and starts empty, because KOSMA does not carry over the comment of the original plan.
Under **Link budget and settings values to:**, KOSMA preselects the budget that is open. If the plan is linked to that budget, keep the preselection.
KOSMA preselects the budget that is open even when the plan is linked to a cost control set. If you keep the preselection, the copy is linked to the budget, and KOSMA compares its totals with **Budget** instead of **Forecast**. KOSMA shows no warning for this. To keep the copy linked to the cost control set, choose the set under **Cost Control Sets Based on Active Budget**.
If you choose another budget, KOSMA stores the copy with that budget. For what changes then, see [relink a plan to another budget](/kb/article/relink-a-plan-to-another-budget). A budget that was shared with you read-only is in the list, but you cannot choose it. KOSMA shows this hint for it:

A plan shared with you read-only can be copied the same way, but link the copy to a budget you can edit, because the message means you would first have to copy the read-only budget itself.
Click **Create Copy**. KOSMA creates the copy and opens it. The plan dropdown then shows the name of the copy. If you linked the copy to another budget, KOSMA opens that budget with the copy. If you started in **Financing Plans**, KOSMA creates the copy, and **Financing Plans** stays open on the plan you started from.
A copy linked to the same budget carries over, without a warning:
- countries, groups, sources and installments, with their numbers, names, amounts and formulas - currencies, statuses and notes - companies, effects and taxes - cash flow rules
Deactivated rows stay deactivated. A copy does not carry over subtotal rows, attachments or the tags of installments. **Received** is empty for every installment in the copy. A source keeps its tags only if the budget the copy is linked to has a tag with the same name.
If you copy rows and paste them into another plan, KOSMA carries over less than a plan copy does and gives the pasted rows new numbers.
