Budgeting
You know what Clear Budget Data and Renumber Budget Items change in a budget and how you undo each of them.
The **Edit** menu has two commands that change a whole budget at once. With **Clear Budget Data**, you empty the figures and keep the structure. With **Renumber Budget Items**, you give the rows new numbers in their current order.
Use this command to keep the structure of a finished budget and enter new figures in it. In the **Edit** menu, choose **Clear Budget Data**. KOSMA asks you to confirm:
This resets quantity, price per unit and factor on all {count} budget item(s). Names and all other details are kept. Continue?
The count covers the accounts and subaccounts that have a quantity, a price per unit or a factor. When you confirm, this applies to every account and subaccount, and KOSMA recalculates the totals. The markups stay as they are.
After you move rows, their numbers no longer follow the order of the rows. In the **Edit** menu, choose **Renumber Budget Items**. KOSMA asks you to confirm:
This rewrites the number of every category, group, and account in this budget to match their current order. It can't be undone in a single step. Continue?
When you confirm, KOSMA gives every category, group, account and markup a number that matches its current place. Formulas that refer to an account with `ACCOUNT()` get the new number too and still refer to the same account. To undo **Clear Budget Data**, choose **Undo** in the **Edit** menu once. KOSMA restores all values. To undo **Renumber Budget Items**, choose **Undo** in the **Edit** menu. **Undo** also works after KOSMA has saved the budget.
**Discard** deletes the Undo history, so after **Discard** you can no longer undo the command. **Discard** returns to the last saved state. Because KOSMA saves the budget about one second after the command, **Discard** does not bring back the budget as it was before the command. You cannot edit this budget. This is the case, for example, on a Free licence, when your licence does not cover Budgeting, when the budget was shared with you for reading only, or when you are signed out. The reasons are in [what your licence includes](/kb/article/what-your-licence-includes).
Both commands work offline as long as you are signed in. KOSMA saves the change on this computer and syncs it when you are back online. See [work offline or in local-only mode](/kb/article/work-offline-or-in-local-only-mode).
