You can set the status of a budget, financing plan or cost control set, and protect it with its status.
You change the status in the left rail. For a financing plan or a cost control set, follow the same steps. For what each status means, see [what status and lock mean](/kb/article/what-status-and-lock-mean).
In the left rail, under the grand total, click the status after **Status:** and choose **Final**, **Working**, **Snapshot** or **Archived**. KOSMA sets it at once. To edit a protected budget again, choose **Working**.
If the budget has a cost control set, **Status:** shows **Cost Control** with a red lock, and no menu opens. Click the red lock and, in **Locked Budget**, choose **Copy** or **Unlock for Correction**. What each does is in [how a cost control set relates to a budget](/kb/article/how-a-cost-control-set-relates-to-a-budget). Afterwards, the lock is open . Click it to lock the budget again.
In the budget dropdown, click **Manage Budgets**, then the **Status** cell of a budget, and choose a status. In **Financing Plans** and **Cost Control Sets**, the status is text only. Change it there in the plan's left rail.
A cash flow plan has no status of its own. Its left rail shows the status of its budget or cost control set and of its financing plan. Click their name to open them, and change the status there.
If the budget is locked, see [what status and lock mean](what-status-and-lock-mean.md#why-a-budget-is-locked-when-nobody-locked-it). You also cannot change the status if:
- your licence is **Free**, - a guest in your project created the budget and has not shared it with you, - the project is archived because its owner's account is inactive, - in the **Budgets Manager**: the budget is not stored on this computer or shows **Not uploaded**.
