Financing
You can assign an effect to a financing source, remove it again and see its figures in the Effects widget of Topsheet Info.
An effect stands for one funding condition, for example a share of the funding that must be spent in the region (see [what effects are](/kb/article/what-effects-are)). When you assign the effect to the source of that funding, **Topsheet Info** shows how much you must spend to meet the condition. To change a plan, you need a licence that covers Financing (see [what your licence includes](/kb/article/what-your-licence-includes)).
Click the source in the plan. KOSMA shows its panels in **Source Details**, among them **Effects**.
The panels work only for a source. If you select a country, a group, a subtotal or nothing at all, they show only their titles. If you select an installment, **Effects** shows the effect of its source, and you cannot change it there.
In **Effects**, click **Add effect**. KOSMA assigns the first effect of the list and opens the list. The list shows the effects set up in the linked budget, with **--none--** at the top and **Edit** at the bottom. If the source already has an effect, **Effects** shows it. Click it to open the list.
Click the effect you need. KOSMA marks the source's row in the **Source Details** column of the plan with a dot. When you point at the dot, KOSMA shows:
Effects applied to this account
In Financing, click **Topsheet Info**. For each effect, the **Effects** widget shows three figures:
- **Required**: the amounts of all sources in the open plan that carry the effect, multiplied by the effect's **Required Spend %**. - **Budget**: the effect's total in the linked budget. - **Variance**: **Budget** minus **Required**.
The widget lists only effects that the linked budget uses and that are not hidden. If the linked budget uses no effect when you first open **Topsheet Info**, KOSMA leaves the widget out. KOSMA adds it as soon as the budget uses an effect. If no source carries the effect, **Required** shows 0. **Required** shows **n/a** only when the effect has no **Required Spend %**. An example: an effect has a **Required Spend %** of 150, and only one source, with 300,000, carries it. **Required** then shows 450,000.
`SUM_EFFECT` also uses the assignment. In a formula, it adds up the amounts of the plan's sources that carry the effect you name. See [aggregate financing sources in a formula](/kb/article/aggregate-financing-sources-in-a-formula).
**A source carries one effect.** A source carries one effect. If you choose a second effect, it replaces the first. If the money of one source counts toward two conditions, record it as two sources, each with its own effect.
Select several sources, then choose the effect in **Effects**. KOSMA assigns it to every selected source. If the selected sources carry different effects, **Effects** shows:
Mixed contents · Click ↺ to reset
In that case, click **Reset effects** first. KOSMA asks you to confirm:
Reset {count} Accounts?
Click **Reset**. KOSMA removes the effect from every selected source, and you can choose one effect for all of them.
**Remove the effect.** In **Effects**, choose **--none--** in the list. KOSMA removes the effect without asking. The amount, currency and status of the source and the totals of the plan stay the same. The **Effects** widget and every `SUM_EFFECT` formula that names the effect no longer count the source.
**If the effect you need is not in the list.** Click **Edit** at the bottom of the list. KOSMA opens the **Effects** settings of the linked budget, where you create the effect. If the budget has no effect yet, **Add effect** opens these settings directly. An effect that is hidden in these settings does not appear in the list. A source that already carries a hidden effect keeps it.
