You can add a subtotal after a source and tell which sources it adds up.
A subtotal shows the total of a block of sources in a long plan, for instance all regional funds or all broadcasters. You add it after the last source of the block.
Click the last source of the block. You can click  **Subtotal** only when exactly one source is selected and that source has no subtotal yet. Each source can have one subtotal.
Click  **Subtotal**. KOSMA adds the subtotal below the source, at the same level as the source. If the source has installments, the subtotal comes after the last installment.
KOSMA names the new subtotal Subtotal 1, or Subtotal 2 and so on if that name is taken. The name is in English in every interface language. KOSMA shows the name in the **Amount** column of the row, and you rename the subtotal in that cell. The **Description** column of a subtotal stays empty. Each subtotal in a plan needs a name of its own.
A subtotal adds up the totals of the sources above it, back to the previous subtotal. The sum starts again at each country, so a subtotal never includes a source from another country. Several subtotals in one country split it into separate blocks, and no source is counted twice.
A subtotal changes no other figure in the plan. The group totals, the country totals and the **Financing Total** do not include it. For the totals of the whole plan, see [read the grand totals](/kb/article/read-the-financing-grand-totals).
To move a subtotal, drag it by the handle in its **No.** column onto another source that has no subtotal yet. Dragging is the only way to move a subtotal. For how dragging works, see [copy and reorder financing rows](/kb/article/copy-and-reorder-financing-rows).
KOSMA deletes a subtotal without asking first. To delete one, select it and click  **Delete**.
In Budgeting, a subtotal is a level in the structure of the budget. A financing subtotal is a row attached to one source and is not part of the plan's structure. It only adds up the sources before it in the plan.
The grey band at the top of each country is the country row. KOSMA builds it as part of the plan's structure, and it always shows the total of the whole country, whether or not you add subtotals.
